I have been very fortunate to have a great life with very few challenges up to this point. I haven’t had much drama in my life. So it really makes this really hard because I’m not really sure who has gotten my through the most. I guess it depends on where I am. Sometimes it’s my mom, sometimes it’s my friends, but at the end of the day the person I want to see and talk to the most is Eric so I guess he wins this one.

Day 8 - A picture that makes you laugh.
(Sorry MLC) These two photos together always make me laugh. I couldn’t resist taking these pictures. The really story is she was asking them where she could find the closest bathroom. If I didn’t tell you that story, you would probably think that she was in trouble with the Brussels police. Especially with the look of concern on her face and the cops looking at each other…deciding what to do with her. And the follow up picture of her coming out of the police station. I have to say we had many funny episodes on this trip, many happy memories. Sunday, January 29, 2012
For the past week I've been blogging daily my 60 photo challenge. So this is just a random blog about life. Not much has happen this past week. Eric and I have been working long hours at work. As typically happens in January and February, I worked yesterday. After that I drove down to La Crosse to meet my Mom, Mike, Nancy and Greg for dinner. It is Nancy's birthday tomorrow so we celebrated it last night. I also got to check out my sister's new place. It is very nice and large. It look nice. I spent the night at Mom's house and she had to go to work at 8am this morning so I came home early. It was so nice to see Eric. It seems silly but I missed him. This is going to be a long 18 months.
I decided Eric should show off his Doctor Who collection. So here you go. This is what many years of collecting Doctor Who looks like. Granted the big "toys" are all Birthday/Christmas for me. I know I'm feeding the addiction. I wonder if there is DWA (Doctor Who Anonymous).
Day 7 - A picture of your most treasured item
Here we go again. I’m going to be sentimental. Without a doubt my most treasured item is my dad’s first accordion. It is something that I will keep with me forever. When he died, he had 3 accordions, and I am so happy I got this one because it doesn’t require any sound system to play, I can just play it. Granted it is loud and I have to pump it hard to get it to work but it is fun to play nonetheless. I have some of his old music too. So some night when you come past my place and hear this lovely music billowing out from my spare bedroom window, it will be me playing the accordion.

This is kind of a hard one and I actually thought a lot about it. There are many people I’d love to trade places with for the day. I could be selfish and obviously choose somebody who is rich and famous. I’d love to spend their money but would I want to put up with the paparazzi? Nope. I could say Obama so I could fix what is wrong with this world but I really don’t know how to fix the mess we are in and to be honest, I wouldn’t want to spend time with his wife Michelle. So nope, not him either. I could say Kate Middleton or Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge as she is known but that would be horrible too. I hate nylons, dresses and high heels…that would not suit me at all. And Prince William…really? No way. Then there are the people who make a difference in the world like Mother Teresa for instance, but she is dead so I wouldn’t want to switch places with her. And some would say “I want to be that poor, hungry, nameless woman in Africa, struggling to feed her starving children.” And I can safely so nope I’m not going to do that. I would love to help her but I would not want to be her. So after all this thinking I came up with the logical answer. Swirl, our naughty cat. He has 10 hours of alone time daily and all he does is sleep in the sun, venture around the hidden escapes of our house, eat expensive food and cause trouble on a routine basis. I want to be naughty again. He has no worries. What a purrfect life. (But I refuse to lick myself)

My life is filled with many great memories. I don’t want to have life pass me by without remembering most of it. I don’t want to be on my death bed full of regrets. With all the traveling I’ve done it would be easy to say they were all my favorite memory. Other events I hold dear to my heart are confirmation, graduations, etc. It is really hard to choose just one but instead of continuing on with my rambling my favorite memory is the day Eric and I got married. I’m not going to get all sappy with some wonderful love story, that isn’t my style and let’s be honest with Eric and me, there is no sappiness, no romance, no affection; we don’t hold hands, kiss in public or write “odes” or “limericks” to each other. (Eric will occasionally make up a silly songs and I did recently come up with a good limerick) But we love each other anyways.
The wedding day was hot and humid. The church was hot and the priest insisted I was crying (I wasn’t, it was sweat…I swear). My dress was nice but so heavy I roasted. The bridesmaids looked beautiful in the burgundy dresses, even Danielle was in a dress. The Williams boys were smashing in their tuxes, but they still had that mischievous look (we have photos of them paying off Monsignor.) The music was great. All of our family and friends coming together was amazing. The food was delicious. The afternoon polka band was great…and don’t forget a bride playing trumpet and trombone on stage with the polka band (and then Mom and Dad too). Who has ever seen that? I didn’t think so. And then the evening dance which really wasn’t a dance but the longest American Idol audition ever. The DJ said she never had so many people doing Karaoke at a wedding. I think there were only 2 or 3 songs that were not karaoke. Eric’s brothers pulled me on stage and sang “I Lost That Love and Feeling” from Top Gun. I think this day qualifies as my MOST favorite memory.

Thursday is usually band night so you would usually see me at the Central Middle School in Eden Prairie playing my trombone. Unfortunately, we have tonight off so this photo and post went from being kind of cool to rather boring. So for the sake of fun, let’s just say I actually practiced my trombone tonight. There you go, my night.

This is a lame one for day 3; it is not really that personal and to pick just one is unfair, so I bent the rules and picked my top 5. I love British Comedies, I think they are so funny, but unlike many Americans, I actually get their humor. I own a lot of them and they are usually the first thing I grab when nothing is on TV. “As Time Goes By”, “Are You Being Served?”, “Coupling”, and “Keeping Up Appearances” are my standard favorites and usually can be seen on PBS. Recently though I’ve been on a Brothers & Sisters kick. I just discovered the show in December (of course it is now cancelled). I have watched all 109 episodes at least twice and I’m cycling through them again. I watch it on the way to work, on the way home from work (thankfully I have a long commute) and any chance I get at home. I can’t help it; I love the story and the cast, especially Matthew Rhys. I can’t get enough of him...dark hair, blue eyed, gorgeous body and he is Welsh so he has that brilliant accent I can’t resist (so I guess I’m not completely getting away from the Brits). Yum! Watch out Eric, I have a new love in my life. Just kidding!

Obviously my mom has been the person who has been closest with me for the longest. Actually 9 months longer than anybody else.

I spent another weekend thinking about family. Yesterday I folded clothes for 4 hours in the morning. Swirl decided to help me. While I was trapped in my bedroom folding away, I thought I should take a look at the old LPs that my dad had given me many years ago to make into CDs. I never got around to it but I still have the LPs. I discovered my dad really loved Saturday Night Waltz. It was on every LP I played yesterday. I like that song too.
Last night my sister and Greg came up for the night. We enjoyed a great meal at Turtles Bar and Grill in Downtown Shakopee and this morning we went shopping at Ikea for new furniture for their new house. Greg and Celeste meet us there and gave me a ride home.
After Ikea, I decided to take a look at the old videos I have of Bisek Polka Band and found a good disk of just mom and dad. I took 13 songs off it and clipped into individual videos and posted them on youtube.com. Below is the playlist. I have other videos but they are too embarrassing. Poofy hair is not a good look for me. And let’s not forget the hideous gigantic glasses and the very curly permed short hair. Yuck! On top of that, the hot pink shirts and suspenders. What were we thinking? Yikes!

Dylan and Greta |
It turned into a family weekend for me. Yesterday we had our Bisek Family party at Uncle Jack’s house. It was fun as always. Eric had class all day Saturday so he missed all the festivities. I got to meet my cousin’s little Greta. She was born in May and she is a cutie. I got a nice picture of Dylan holding her. He was a little freaked what do you think? Also there was my mom’s sister, Aunt Grace. Actually she was the first person I saw and I said “Grace! What are you doing here? You are not a Bisek.” I thought for a second I went to the wrong house. It was nice to see everybody. The food was good and I kicked some butt in cards, Dirty Clubs. I won the first game...$2.50. It helped that my mom had two bucks and Grace had three. Hahaha. The next game though I had four bucks and lost $1.25…but on a positive note I came $1.25 ahead. Not bad when playing cards with Biseks. You never win with them, they play ruthlessly.
We spent today with DJ and Abbie. Abbie had a track and field clinic at University of St. Thomas in St. Paul. So we spent most of the day in their brand new indoor track facility. It is awesome. After the clinic there was an actual track meet. She ran the 55 meters and the 200 meters. After that we went to Snuffy’s Malt Shop. A St. Paul Tradition. I’m shocked Eric didn’t have a malt. He said it was too cold. He is such a pussy. After dinner they went home. Abbie is driving now!!! She has only had her permit for a week but she drove up to our house too. I have a feeling she will get her license before Beth.
Overall it was a great weekend. I didn’t have to work, I got to see family both days, enjoyed great food and in between all that I watched many episodes of Brothers and Sisters...my newest obsession. I love Matthew Rhys. He is so gorgeous and he is Welsh! Watch out Eric!
