We saw two state capitols on our Tri-State Road. We swung by Utah's capitol on our way to Idaho. At the end of our trip, we were in Salt Lake again so we went to see it at night.

We also spent a day in Boise and saw the Idaho State Capitol.

 One of the primary purposes of our trip out west (besides the half marathon) was to star gaze in a place with very little light pollution. It did not disappoint!  The first 4 pictures were 20 minutes outside of Ely, NV.  The next set were outside of Great Basin National Park.

I survived hiking at over 10,000 feet!  The first quarter mile was tough but it was also mostly uphill. After that I was mostly fine. It was a beautiful hike. 

 We took a long detour on our way to Ely, NV to see the Bonneville Salt Flats. I have always wanted to see this place and it really didn't disappoint. What made it even cooler was there was a  rainstorm just before we got there so there were lakes of salt water that just reflected the sky. Such a cool experience.

 We went rafting down the Payette River just north of Boise. It was Labor Day afternoon so we saw the miles and I mean MILES of cars backed up going back to Boise from up north. It was crazy.  The weather was on the cool side but it was a fun time going down the river.

 After our time in Pocatello, we headed to Craters of the Moon NM.  It was such a weird place. It kind of reminded me of Iceland with all the dark volcanic rock.  It was a very raining day so we had to dodge downpours.
