🏃‍♀️ Half Marathon State #43 — New York is in the books! 🗽
We took on the Yonkers Half Marathon and this race had all the ingredients for a miserable time: lack of training, a small field, and pouring rain before we even started—and for most of the race. 🌧️ Yep… it was miserable. 🤣 (But not as miserable as Omaha, so you’re still safe, Bonnie Morales. 😂)
Somehow, my time wasn’t nearly as bad as I expected, and even more impressive… NO BLISTERS! 🙌 Considering I basically walked/ran 13.1 miles with completely soaked feet, I’m giving all the credit to my Swiftwick socks. I need to buy, like, 10 pairs. 😂
Race highlights:
👋 Getting a hug from a big guy at mile 11 who told me, “Keep going, baby!”
💦 Having a marathoner throw his not-empty water cup directly onto my foot at mile 11.5. Good thing it was already soaked.
🛑 Almost getting whacked by a stop sign a volunteer was swinging at mile 12.
And before all that? Just hills and rain. Lots and lots of rain. 🤣🌧️
State #43 ✔️
Yonkers, you were wet. You were hilly. You were miserable. And somehow… we finished! 🏅
